Learn About Counseling
I’d be happy to talk with you over the phone or via email to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding counseling. It is important to make sure we’d be a good fit in working together based on what you need and want from your relationship with your counselor.
The initial intake session is 50 minutes in length and is used to answer any questions you may have regarding policies as well as beginning to get to know one another. I strive to make this initial interaction as relaxed and comfortable as possible as it is laying the groundwork for our work together. We will also begin discussing your concerns or symptoms as well as your goals for our therapeutic work together. After the initial intake session, we will meet for 50 minute sessions as frequently as we both agree would be most beneficial for your healing and growth. I offer both face-to-face, in office sessions and online telehealth sessions through a HIPAA compliant platform.
Individual Sessions: These sessions involve you working individually with your counselor towards a common goal. Counseling should be viewed as a collaboration where you, as the client, direct where we go and how quickly while the counselor provides opportunities for new direction and areas of further growth.
Adolescent: These sessions focus on the individual needs of your child while also integrating parenting/caregiver support. Every child/teen is unique and responds differently to counseling. Therefore, a strong relationship of trust and comfort must be established early on when working towards healing with children and teens. I strive to respect the client’s need to go at his or her own pace in sharing his or her life experiences. Therefore, I aim to meet my clients where they are at in their healing journey while also providing additional tools to help them feel competent and brave enough to take steps forward at their own pace.
Family: Many times families have the same goals and desires for their relationships with one another but can’t quite figure out how to communicate these desires effectively or even heal from past hurts. It can sometimes feel like you’re competing with the people in your home rather than working together as a team. That’s where an unbiased, neutral counselor can come in. A counselor can provide opportunities to strengthen relationships and enhance communication with one another, helping to ease the stresses of day to day interactions while also strengthening the foundation for future relationships.
Fees
The private pay fee per session (including the initial session) is $120. United Healthcare and HealthFirst insurances are accepted. However, if you have a different health insurance provider then, upon request, you can receive a Superbill (receipt) that you may submit to your health insurance for possible reimbursement of a percentage of the private pay fees. Please contact your health insurance company for more information about possible out of network provider reimbursement options.
A Good Faith Estimate detailing the cost of each session and the approximate total cost of your counseling services will be provided before your first session.
